New publication by Dr Jasna Kriz

Dr Jasna Kriza's team has published a new article in the journal Glia: "Chronically activated microglia in ALS gradually lose their immune functions and develop unconventional proteome ". Dr. Kriz and her team have demonstrated that in the mouse model of ALS, microglia have a low phagocytic capacity and lose their functional immune responses. In addition, proteome analysis shows that diseased microglia have a unique molecular signature with high expression of proteins unrelated to immune function. This unconventional protein expression is also observed in the context of human disease. Taken together, these important observations could lead to the discovery of new disease targets.
