Research interests:

  • Investigate the role and mechanisms of translational control in induced-pluripotent stem cell maintenance and reprogramming.
  • Elucidation of the mechanism of action of miRNA.
  • Study cancer in the context of aberration of the translation factors that we discovered: eIF4E, eIF4G, 4E-HP, 4E-T, Paip1 and Paip2, and the signalling pathways that modulate their activity.
  • Study the molecular basis of the control of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells and its importance in diseases such as cancer, obesity, diabetes and neurological diseases (Fragile-X syndrome, autism).
